|
|---|---|
Teaches dramatic theory and criticism at Helwan University and Arabic editing skills at the American University in Cairo. A prominent theater critic in his own right, he was one of the first Egyptian theater scholars to apply modern theoretical concepts to the study and analysis of theatrical productions; hence his semiotically-oriented MA thesis on modern Egyptian drama (Cairo University, 1996), also the first to attempt a dramaturgical approach to the plays of the late Egyptian dramatist Mikhail Ruman. He also has to his name a number of plays and short stories for children.
